The last post I left off on was just prior to leaving for Rurrenbaque to go exploring through the Amazon for a few days. We are still in a big pack of people, Toby, Vicki, Paul, Michael, Tom, Marielle and myself. We had loads of fun cruising about the waters viewing crocodiles, exotic birds, turtles, tons of monkeys. The first evening we went on a moonlight boat ride to look for all the reflective crocodile and other reptile eyes. Afterwards, while most of the guys were enjoying beers, I was lounging on one of the many stilted decks enjoying the shwack load of fireflies lighting up the trees and bushes ---(I was too scared to partake in the festive drinks, since the planks that we had to walk between the simple bar house and our lodging had a few crocs inhabitating the waters...eeeeee). The next morning we put on some wellies (as all our group described them) and went searching for anacondas in the shallow waters...we weren´t too successful since it wasn´t sunny out for them to come sun bathing at the surface. Later on in the day, we went swimming with some wild pink dolphins, ---that was pretty cool, one came and touched me, and let me hold on to it´s belly/fin while the others came to touch him too--very friendly. That night we were all so happy with the day that the thought of walking the planks after a few drinks wasn´t as terrifying, but it made for a sore lot of us the next morning as we tried our lines out at piranha fishing. I unfortunately got terribly sick that night and the following day, with not much energy to be partying when we got back to La Paz----Marielle made a great nurse getting me drugs from the pharmacy and putting me to bed for the whole day. I recovered well enough to trial my life bicycling the Death road yesterday. I was all nerves as we made our ascent to the top of where we start the ride, but I quickly had my pedal feet under me and was even racing with some of boys---I Proved I could hold my own on a mountain bike (thanks to growing up with my bros :) ). There were only three crashes (the first being Toby-haha the other two were two of the other guys in our group). But overall we had an awesome group that kept a GREAT pace, and weren´t idiots----we heard some horror stories from the guides. If surviving the ride on death road weren´t enough, Marielle, Toby and I ziplined (super-man style) through the gorgeous landscape!! The way home the whole lot of us were challenged to the 2L of mixed spirits by the time we reach the city limits----we were on a party bus and the boys entertained the three of us girls on the stripper pole situated in the middle-hahaha....and a few took the challenge a bit too seriously-but it made for a funny ride home. Today we went to the world qualifying futball match between Argentina and Brazil---It was a blast watching the game and the fans and reactions, absolute fun. Alright, that´s all for now, we are off to Lake Titicaca tomorrow!!
Love and kisses,
Megs
