Saaaaalllllltttttt-San Pedro de Atacama, Chili

Greetings earthlings.

Here is a quick note on our short visit to Chili.

We took an excruciating bus ride from Salta, Argentina to San Pedro de Atacama, Chili. Not only were we not feeling to bright from the activities the night before leaving, but the drastic rise in elevation added a smidge to our already present nausea and headache...oops. Regardless, we did arrive in one piece at the border...and that was it we were in San Pedro....there was not much that we could see of the town, mostly shanty houses and dirt. We did not look too much into the town before coming, nor booked any hostel as per usual. Marielle asked a fellow bus passenger if he had a place to stay that night, which he said yes to, so of course we asked if we could follow him there. His name is Tobias (aka Toby) from Sweden, who was traveling with a few other random people that have turned into our own travel mates as well. There is Cassandra from Holland, and the oh so awesome couple Paul and Vicki from England. We all hit it off and planned a trip to see some of the cool natural wonders around town. Of these included a mini-Chilean Salt Flat, plummeting swimming holes of salt water that we jumped/dove/belly flopped (cough cough) in to, and finally this lake of super concentrated salt water where you literally float 1/2 way out of the water. It was insane, you could not push yourself down without being popped right up. Really neat! Luckily these wonderful new compadres of ours liked us well enough to have us plan a 3 day jeep tour to the Bolivian Salt Flats. So this little day tour together got us all really excited to take off to do that.
