Mendoza, Valle Fertil, and Salta, Argentina.

Hola!
So we have been a busy pair as of late, with minimal amount of proper internet connection to really keep you up to date on the places we have visited. Mendoza was great enough, we were there during the Vendimia festival, (apparently a world famous wine festival....we had no idea). It was a little silly to tell the truth, its focus is to nominate the next beauty pageant queen of Argentina......there were a load of contestents that get paraded around all weekend, (throwing grapes at the crowd)....for those who know me, you will know my patience lacks in these aspects of feminity propoganda. Just the  same though, there was a grand show full of dancing of fireworks which is probably the only parts I paid attention for. So if there are any wine conesours out there that feel the need to visit the festival, it's not necessarily a must. We did things that you can do any time of the year; bicycle vineyard tour (really fun), a horseback riding and starlit argentinian BBQ mmmmm ( we learned how to make empanadas!).As well we went high into the Andes mountain range, which was by far both Marielle's and I's favorite.= Mendoza in a nutshell.

After having a taste of the outdoors, the two of us both felt the need to continue on this way. So up next was a tiny town of Valle Fertil, really really loved it there. Very chilled, relaxed place, friendly faces. We did some tours up to Valle de la Luna and tampalya, wicked landscapes of formations that marielle would be better at explaining than I. But, it had hoodoos, canyon like valleys, moon scape, lots of layers. There was cool drastic change between desert and animals and flora. There was lots to see, and Marielle was teaching me some cool facts like how to find a strip of stones in the layers indicates a flood had happened. We made a proper argentinian BBQ (much harder than our BBQs back home) for our hostel mates there, and enjoyed the local drinks of Fernet and coke.....similar to jager and coke. We were sad to go but we had to move on.

We had long bus rides to San Juan, then transfered to a different bus to Salta. In Salta,  we stayed a night just to break up our next leg to San Pedro de Atacama, in Chili. But that night was a blast swimming with some guys from Buenos Ares, and going out for a great dinner and music house with them.

Phew, I think we are coles notes caught up now. I will post about chili later.

So much love, Megs
